    At RiverSong Theater Arts, we believe every child has a story worth telling and a voice worth nurturing. Founded by international performer, published author, and youth educator Diane Cameron Elam, RiverSong is where creative expression meets cultural heritage and soulful storytelling.

    Through drama, movement, music, and community-building, our classes empower youth to shine on stage and in life. From first-time performers to passionate storytellers, our students learn confidence, communication, and character in every session.

    Whether in a park, community center, or school, RiverSong is more than a class—it's a safe, sacred space where the arts become a path to growth, healing, and joy.

    Meet the Founder

    Founder, RiverSong Theater Arts

    Performer | Educator | Author | Cultural Arts Advocate

    Diane Cameron Elam is an award-winning theater artist, educator, and published author with over 20 years of experience teaching, performing, directing, and mentoring young people through the creative arts. Her approach blends faith, heritage, and heart with a proven track record of program development, curriculum design, and international cultural engagement.

    As a seasoned instructor, Diane has taught and directed youth theater in public schools, private academies, homeschool co-ops, churches, parks & recreation departments, and international classrooms. Her unique methodology combines storytelling, voice, movement, and social-emotional development to inspire students both on and off the stage.

    She is the founder of It’s All an Act 2, Inc., a nonprofit arts organization that served youth and families for two decades across the Southeast. Through this platform, Diane created arts-integrated curricula, led community outreach productions, and facilitated anti-bullying and cultural awareness workshops that reached thousands of young learners.

    International Experience

    Diane has led multiple arts-based humanitarian missions to Africa and Japan, including four educational tours of Benin, West Africa. She was honored as a USA Artist in Residence to Benin, performing and teaching in both rural villages and urban institutions. Her work abroad has focused on bridging cultural understanding through storytelling, music, and theater.

    She has worked closely with international schools, U.S. embassies, and cultural ministries to provide enrichment programs rooted in environmental stewardship, legacy, and the power of personal voice.

    Performance & Musical Background

    As a singer, Diane has performed on stages across the U.S. and internationally. She was nominated for a KORA Award (Africa’s equivalent of a Grammy) for her album The Reconciliation, and has sung the national anthem at the Hilton Head Family Circle Cup Tennis Tournament. She has performed in leading roles in productions such as Big River, Prelude to a Kiss, Fame, and The Piano Lesson.

    She also serves as the publicist and performer for Shirley King, daughter of the legendary B.B. King, and has been featured in African Diaspora festivals and blues legacy events.

    Authorship & Curriculum

    Diane is the author of three published books available on Amazon:

    • Dear Diary, It’s Me, Bria – A coming-of-age story rooted in homelessness, healing, and hope
    • Trash Tawkin’ – A whimsical environmental fable on recycling and second chances
    • The Sitting Stone – A Southern generational tale of family, loss, and legacy

    She designs her own curricula for youth programs, drawing from her degrees in Environmental Science and Policy, her professional stage training, and her lived experience as a storyteller.

    Leadership & Recognition

    • Commendation from the Alabama State Legislature for youth service in the arts
    • Executive Director for African Initiatives for the Mayor of Tuskegee, Alabama (2010–2022)
    • Founder of RiverSong Theater Arts, serving Augusta, GA, and surrounding communities
    • Advocate for arts education, environmental literacy, and cultural legacy in youth development

  • Building Self-esteem Through Performances

    CLASSES & PROGRAMS

    Porch Playhouse (Ages 6–9)

    A joyful introduction to theater through creative play, storytelling, movement, and music. Students explore characters and stories through games, mini-performances, and guided scenes.

    Sunset Scenes (Ages 10–13)

    Students dive into acting techniques, improvisation, and scene work. Perfect for middle-schoolers ready to explore voice, expression, and ensemble collaboration.

    Molasses & Melodies (Ages 14–17)

    This soulful drama + music intensive blends monologue work, songwriting, and spoken word to help older youth develop confidence and stage presence while honoring cultural voice and faith.

    Seasonal Workshop Intensives

    Special weekend or summer programs offered in partnership with local schools, churches, and parks & recreation departments.

    Now booking Summer 2025 programs in select venues.. Business license available May 1, 2025. Teaching artist packets are available upon request.

    Parents and older siblings are welcome and encouraged to remain while class is in session.
